Biography

Thomas J. Feeney – Tom has been professionally involved in the investment industry since 1969. He has worked with cities, states, U.S. territories, and major corporations, concentrating particularly on serving charitable and other not-for-profit organizations.

Tom was previously Executive Director of Stewardship Services, Inc., Washington, D.C., and a Senior Vice President of Atalanta/Sosnoff Capital Corporation, New York. He established Thomas J. Feeney & Co., a financial consultant to religious and charitable organizations in 1978. He founded Marathon Asset Management Co. in late 1985 to separate investment management from Feeney & Co.'s consulting services. Marathon was merged into Mission Management & Trust Co. in 2012. The company was sold in 2022.

Prior to his investment career, Tom served on the faculties of the University of Santa Clara, St. Joseph’s College, and Guadalupe College. In more recent years, he has lectured on investments at Notre Dame, Georgetown University and the University of Arizona. His own academic background includes an A.B. in economics from Boston College, an M.B.A. from the University of Santa Clara, studies at the Stanford Law School, and additional post-graduate work at the University of San Francisco. Recognized nationally for his application of historical precedent to current markets, Tom has been interviewed, published, and frequently quoted on CNBC and in such national print media as Barron’s, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Wall Street Transcript, and numerous other papers across the country.

Throughout his career he has spoken on a great variety of investment-related topics before audiences ranging from individual investors to the administrators of the largest public employee retirement systems in the United States. Within recent years he has been invited to address audiences by such major conference sponsors as the Institute for International Research (IIR), Investment Management Institute, and the American Association of Individual Investors.
